How does the optimization algorithm work?
PTO Maximizer analyzes your available holidays and finds break combinations that give you the most consecutive days off for the fewest PTO days used. It considers weekends, holidays, and your preferences to calculate the highest efficiency breaks.
Can I add custom holidays?
Yes! Premium users can add custom holidays for company-specific days off, religious holidays, or any other dates. Go to Settings > Holidays > Add Custom Holiday to add your own dates.
What does 'efficiency' mean?
Efficiency is the ratio of total days off to PTO days used. For example, if you use 3 PTO days and get 9 days off total (including weekends and holidays), your efficiency is 3.0x. Higher efficiency means better value for your PTO.
Is my data private?
Absolutely. All your PTO settings, holiday selections, and break plans are stored locally on your device only. We don't transmit your personal vacation data to any servers. Your planning stays completely private.
What's included in Premium?
Premium unlocks additional optimization strategies (Long Breaks, Frequent Breaks), the ability to add custom holidays, export to calendar, share your plan, and removes all limitations on the free version.
Can I plan for next year?
Yes! After viewing your current year's optimization, you can toggle to see next year's optimal breaks. This helps you plan ahead and coordinate with your team.
How do I restore my purchase?
If you previously purchased Premium and need to restore it (e.g., on a new device), go to Settings > Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
The app isn't showing my holidays correctly. What do I do?
Go to Settings > Holidays to review and customize which holidays are enabled. You can toggle individual holidays on/off and add custom dates. If a specific holiday is missing, use the Add Custom Holiday feature.
Troubleshooting
App is running slowly
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, restart your device. The optimization runs complex calculations which may take a moment on older devices.
Premium features not unlocking
Ensure you have a stable internet connection. Try going to Settings > Restore Purchases. If the issue continues, contact Apple Support for purchase-related issues.
Breaks not updating after changing settings
After changing PTO days, holidays, or strategy, tap “Re-optimize” in Settings to recalculate your optimal breaks with the new parameters.
